How it Works
ResCav Prototype
Inside Resonant Cavity
ResCav obtains unique signature of IC when placed inside resonant cavity
Signature is unique to structural, material and circuit properties of IC
Machine Learning algorithms allows ResCav to precisely detect counterfeit ICs
Resonant Cavity: Hollow closed metal box with electromagnetic (EM) waves reflecting and forth between the cavity walls
Resonant frequencies occur at integer multiples of the wavelengths of the wave
A rectangular resonant cavity, and the electric field variations for the TE101 and TE102 resonant modes (m, n, p)
Resonant frequency shift determined by:
Impedance inside cavity
Dielectric properties inside cavity (ϵ and μ)
Shape of material inside cavity
Resonant frequency equation
